Boston Convention Center Sparks New EACA Chapter
By Staff -- Tradeshow Week, 2/23/2004
The Exhibitor Appointed Contractors Assn. has recently formed a New England chapter in anticipation of the June opening of the Boston Convention & Exhibition Center. Regionally-based EACA members contacted local industry representatives and met with national EACA Vice President Keith Newsome the first week in February. Held at the John B. Hynes Veterans Memorial Convention Center in Boston, the meeting outlined the responsibilities of a local chapter, its benefits, and ended in the selection of a volunteer board of directors and plans for the chapter's first meeting in March.
"With the building of the Boston Convention Center, the need for a local EACA chapter is definitely brought more to the forefront than in the past," said Sharon Bingham, president of the new chapter and marketing director for Champion Transportation. "I think it's important to resolve any issues that might exist before the building is open."
She expects between 20 and 40 people for the March meeting, which will include a tour of the new Boston facility. "I think the tour will be a big draw," Bingham said, adding that the chapter welcomes tradeshow industry professionals from throughout New England to join. "I've even heard interest from an EACA member in New Jersey because there isn't a local chapter there and in New York," Bingham said.
