Associations

Denise (Rossitto) Gavilan has been named director of marketing for the Greater Washington Society of Assn. Executives and the Center for Assn. Leadership. She has 13 years' experience in public relations and marketing communications.

The Trade Show Exhibitors Assn. has made a few staff changes.

  • Jennie Moore has been promoted from communications coordinator to senior marketing coordinator and will manage the association's biweekly newsletter E-NEWS.
  • Amy Lawlor was promoted from administration coordinator to senior administrative coordinator and will now manage registration and on-site activities for TSEA's annual tradeshow and conference, TS2 - The Trade Show About Trade Shows.

Kristina Hill was hired as senior communications coordinator. She has previously worked with the Rainbow/PUSH Coalition, the Chicago White Sox and Marketing Connections.

The Canadian Assn. of Exposition Management board has appointed former membership events coordinator Debbie Wilson to executive director. Wilson replaces Carol Ann Burrell, who left CAEM to work with another association.

Convention & Visitors Bureaus

The Baltimore Area Convention & Visitors Assn. has hired Margot Amelia as vice president.

Jorge Colona has been appointed director of sales for the Puerto Rico Convention Bureau's Miami office. He last worked as national sales manager for Wyndham Sugar Bay Resort & Spa

Pete Garlock has been named sales manager at the Chicago North Shore Convention & Visitors Bureau. He comes from Ad Innovations of Chicago, where he held the same position.

The Jacksonville & the Beaches Convention & Visitors Bureau has hired Rob Hampton, previously director of convention sales at Experience Columbus, as vice president of sales.

Kym Hughes will join the Athens (Ga.) Convention & Visitors Bureau as convention sales director. Most recently, she was director of tourism and convention sales at the Valdosta-Lowndes County Tourism Authority.

The Richmond Metropolitan Convention & Visitors Bureau has hired Robert Pierce as sales manager in charge of the association and corporate markets. Previously, Pierce was director of event services at the Greater Richmond Convention Center.

Exhibition Services

Booth maker Moss has promoted technical design director Matt Owen to the newly created position of new product development manager.

H.B. Stubbs has promoted COO Scott W. Stubbs to president and CEO. Former President and CEO. Stephen O. Stubbs will remain as chairman and advisor, as well as a member of the owner's policy board.

Facility Management

Monica Lee-Müller has been promoted to director of business development at the Hong Kong Convention & Exhibition Centre after 10 years with the center.

General Contractors

Freeman Decorating has hired Bob Moore for the new position of executive vice president of corporate sales. Most recently, he was senior vice president of global sales with Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide.

Katy Wild will act as senior vice president of customer relations in The Freeman Companies' new customer support center. She has worked as president of exhibitor services at Freeman since May 1998.

Show Management

PGI Exhibitions' Unique Event and Communications Agency has made several staff changes.

  • James Duda has been named senior vice president, exhibitions. He has served in executive management positions at The Synapse Group and Reallinx.
  • David Kahn, group vice president for the agency's automotive market, has also been named senior vice president of meeting services for Meeting Services Plus.

Diversified Business Communications has promoted Mary Larkin from show director for the seafood exposition group to vice president of seafood exhibitions.

IDG World Expo has appointed Ian Monteiro regional managing director of IDG World Expo Asia, responsible in part for exploring new opportunities to launch events in the region.

BITEC has appointed Pichai Phataravimolphorn as project director of Thai exhibitions Asia Auto Parts & Repair Expo, Logistics Asia 2004 and Food Catering Asia & Food Technology Asia.
