Dennis Carew Jr. has been named regional sales manager of the Puerto Rico Convention Center at the Puerto Rico Convention Bureau's Washington, D.C. office. Previously, he was convention sales manager at the Washington, D.C. Convention & Tourism Corp.
After more than 12 years as a Southwest Airlines marketing specialist, Veronica Castro recently joined the El Paso Convention & Visitors Bureau as its sales manager.
The Massachusetts Convention Center Authority has named Michael Munn chief of staff and director of business development for the Boston Convention Marketing Center. Previously, he was director of business development and project management for Wood Art Exhibit Group.
The Las Vegas Convention & Visitors Authority has named Mya Lake Reyes manager of diversity marketing. Most recently, she was director of purchasing and construction diversity with the MGM Grand Hotel.
Elaine Rosquist has accepted the newly created position of director of business development at the Baltimore Area Convention & Visitors Assn. She last worked as executive vice president of the Intl. Assn. of Convention & Visitor Bureaus.
Richard Scharf Jr., acting president of the Denver Metro Convention & Visitors Bureau since November, has been named president and CEO. Before November, he was the bureau's executive vice president for sales and marketing.
Absolutely Atlanta has hired Kate Larry as convention sales manager. She will pursue new business opportunities with trade associations and in-bound conference organizers who have conventions scheduled in Atlanta.
The Greater Cincinnati Convention & Visitors Bureau has hired Ben Stauss as sales manager for the Southern territory. Most recently, Stauss served as an account executive with Clear Channel Communications.
Exhibit ServicesMC2 has made several staff changes:
- Gary Benson, president since June, has been named CEO.
- Kim Youngblood has been hired for the new position of senior vice president of strategic solutions.
- Rob Murphy, who has worked in communications with MC² since the company's launch, has been promoted to senior vice president of marketing.
MICE North America has launched a new brand communications company, MICE iCom, with the following staff appointments:
- Bill Callejas will be president/executive creative director, having worked on integrated communications projects for The Boeing Company, J.D. Edwards & Company and GE Commercial Finance.
- Nancy Norris has been named vice president/integrated communications. She worked previously as vice president at Loral CyberStar.
- Bill Argust is now vice president of business development.
- Richard Muir is vice president of client services.
Shawn King has been hired by nParallel as director of creative strategies. Before joining nParallel, King was creative director for integrated design services at Shea, a marketing and design firm.
General ContractorsThe Freeman Companies has hired Mike Bruley and promoted Martin Moggré, national sales manager and director for the Southeast region. They will now both be vice president, sales administration, of Freeman Decorating.
GES Exposition Services has made the following staff changes:
- Clifford Rippetoe has been named vice president of exhibit and design/installation and dismantle. He has worked in a number of top-level positions previously, including director of facilities for the Las Vegas Convention Center and general manager of the Salt Palace Convention Center in Salt Lake City for SMG.
- Dennis Christensen leaves his post as general manager-warehouse in national operations of GES Exposition Services to act as national director of E&D/I&D operations.
United Business Media Intl. promoted Jessica Blue from event manager to event director of Intl. Confex.
ProActive has hired Bill Bunkers as vice president and general manager. He most recently held the position of senior vice president/general manager for Jack Morton Worldwide.
Show ServicesGeorge Andreopoulos joins Attendance Marketing as vice president. He was director of business sales for Tourisme Montreal for the last five years.
Richard Dobransky is now vice president of new business development with United Service Companies. He will focus on the continued development and expansion of United Temps and United Temps Professional Employer Organization. Previously, he was at Chicago-based Levy Restaurants as senior vice president of the Sports and Entertainment Group.
