What's New on the Web
By Staff -- Tradeshow Week, 5/3/2004
Intl. Assn. for Exhibition Management
Launched: Feb. 27
Designed by: Barry Whitewater of Whitewater Design
Best features: Streamlined multiple navigations. Whitewater gave all components the same look and applied it throughout the site. The main graphic for the site is an exhibition and networking forum. Key to the redesign was retaining some existing pages (Career Center, QuickRenew, Meeting and Education, Registration and Press Room), while giving the site a more homogenous and fluid look.
User evaluation: "It has a catchier look, especially for those looking for new positions in the industry. It's much friendlier now for job-seekers." – Chewi Lockhart, supervisor of the operations department, SMG, DeVoss Place Convention Center in Grand Rapids, Mich.
General Graphics Exhibits
Launched: April 23
Designed by: Daniel Tallent
Best features: Interactivity, combining opportunity for company to capture information with opportunity for clients to learn industry lingo and get global exhibiting advice. Site translates from English into five other languages, to serve both U.S. companies with global tradeshow programs and foreign companies exhibiting in the United States.
User evaluation: "I love the gray and black artistic look with the San Francisco-skyline theme. It is clear that it's a designer's site, fresh and clean, not copy-heavy. It mirrors what we achieve in our exhibit designs. And it loads fast." – Elizabeth Olson, senior public relations manager, Roxio
