IAAPA Partners with European Group
By Staff -- Tradeshow Week, 5/3/2004
The European Assn. for the Amusement Supplier Industry has agreed to share its ownership rights to the Euro Amusement Show with the Intl. Assn. of Amusement Parks and Attractions for the next decade.
The show will be closely managed by a seven-member Board of Counselors. IAAPA and EAASI will each have three board members. The seventh will be drawn from a related, but independent, organization. Previously, IAAPA and EAASI had discussed the possibility of forming a new company to manage the tradeshow before deciding to form the board.
IAAPA will seek to add increased educational sessions, which have so far not been a focus of the European event, according to Beth Robertson, vice president of communication for IAAPA. "There are two full days in Orlando of educational sessions plus the showfloor," said Robertson, of her association's annual stateside event. "In Europe, there's currently only a small number of them."
Held last January at Disneyland Resort Paris, EAS drew 6,000 attendees and 200 exhibitors from 16 countries over roughly 48,438 square feet. Both associations hope to increase these statistics at next year's show to be held in Vienna's Prater Park.
