Web Site Offers Access to Used Equipment

Staff -- Tradeshow Week, 7/12/2004

A new service offers trade-show exhibitors and exhibit producers an online outlet for buying and selling used exhibits and accessories.

Ray Rogowicz, president of Exhibittrader.com, estimated there are billions of dollars worth of existing exhibit and display properties in inventories throughout the nation, a sizeable portion of which are used infrequently, if ever.

Rogowicz said the site enables exhibitors to increase the cost-effectiveness of their trade-show marketing programs by offering a forum for sellers of used exhibits, as well as for rental exhibit companies who are looking to post their inventories.

International companies hoping to exhibit in the United States can save on shipping charges and customs hassles by purchasing from the site. The site also offers an exhibit evaluator, like the Kelley Blue Book for cars.

Sellers are charged a one-time posting charge ranging from $39 for a tabletop to $359 for the largest exhibits. No commissions or brokerage fees are charged.

Valerie Davenport, marketing coordinator for A&N, said she sold a 10Œ~20Œ custom exhibit that the firm bought for $35,000, but hadn't used for three years. About 260 prospective buyers viewed her booth on the Web site before it was sold, she said.
