XPO Events, producer of the LinuxUser & Developer Expo, has agreed to license IDG World Expo's LinuxWorld Conference & Expo to create the United Kingdom's largest open-source event.
The combined LinuxWorld Conference & Expo is set for Oct. 6–7 at London's Olympia Exhibition Centre. Hewlett-Packard, Novell, Red Hat, SAP, Sun Microsystems and Veritas are signed up as exhibitors. Open Forum Europe's Graham Taylor will be chairman of the education program.
Besides LinuxUser and LinuxWorld, an annual Linux technical conference is sponsored each year by the U.K. Unix Users Group.
In the United States, IDG has been holding East Coast and West Coast LinuxWorld events since 1999. The next West Coast LinuxWorld will be held at San Francisco's Moscone Center Aug. 2–5, while the next East Coast event is set for Boston's John B. Hynes Veterans Memorial Convention Center Feb. 14–17.
The LinuxWorld brand is also licensed in China, Japan, Italy and Germany.
XPO also produces two MacExpo events: one scheduled for Nov. 18–20 at the Business Design Centre in Islington, U.K., and the other at the Exhibition Centre in Cologne, Germany, June 16–18. It also produced Adobe Live at the London Olympia Exhibition Centre May 26–27.
