Staff -- Tradeshow Week, 8/16/2004

Associations

Paula Schneider has been appointed as the director of meetings and conventions for the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery. She has more than 20 years of experience in convention and meeting management and most recently worked for VNU Expositions as an operations director.

Convention & Visitors Bureaus

The Irving Convention & Visitors Bureau recently announced two staff changes:

  • John Cychol was promoted to assistant executive director of sales. A 16-year hospitality industry veteran, he served as the CVB's director of sales for eight years.
  • Mark D. Thompson was added to the staff as assistant executive director of marketing. A 12-year industry veteran, he will oversee the bureau's marketing, communications and research functions.

Lauren Uritus was recently appointed to head the new Chicago office of the Salt Lake Convention & Visitors Bureau as a convention sales director.

Charlie Wilson joined the Austin Convention & Visitors Bureau as the northeast regional director of the bureau's Washington, D.C., convention sales office. He brings 19 years' experience in the meetings and convention industry to the CVB. Wilson previously worked for both the Long Beach Convention & Entertainment Center and the Convention & Visitors Bureau of Greater Kansas City.

Facility Management

The Connecticut Convention Center recently expanded its pre-opening team to include two new staff members:

  • Kathleen Goffa will act as communications director. She is the former director of public relations for McLaughlin, DelVecchio & Casey.
  • Jeanne O'Grady was hired as director of sales and marketing. She is the former tradeshow sales manager and senior event manager for the Rhode Island Convention Center.
Show Management

David Gilfoyle was promoted to national sales manager for Universal Shows and Western Exhibitors. He also currently holds the title of show manager for the Portland Gift & Accessories Show and will continue to oversee the production of that event.

Hanley Wood Exhibitions announces the following staff changes and additions:

  • Amie Gilmore has been promoted to senior account executive for Surfaces. Amy joined the company in 2000 and was most recently operations manager for the show.
  • Lisa Gulig has assumed the position of account executive for the Intl. Roofing Expo. Lisa joined the company in 2002 and was most recently an account executive for World of Concrete.
  • Jackie James has been promoted to show manager of World of Concrete and World of Concrete Mexico. Jackie joined the company in 2002 and was most recently marketing manager of the shows.
  • Marcy McWilliams has joined the company as account executive for the World of Concrete and World of Concrete Mexico. She was previously a sales representative for Thomas Nelson Publishing and an account manager with The Trade Group.
