Expomedia, dmg to Launch Russian Show
Staff -- Tradeshow Week, 8/16/2004
Expomedia Group and dmg world media are launching IPE Russia, a pipeline exhibition and conference. The inaugural IPE Russia event will be held Sept. 22–25, 2005, at the Luzhniki Complex in Moscow, which is managed by Expomedia.
IPE Russia will follow the template of the biennial Intl. Pipelines Exhibition, next scheduled for Oct. 6–8 in Calgary, Alberta. Like its Canadian predecessor, the Moscow tradeshow will run concurrently with a high-level technical conference, which will seek to draw leading associations, government representatives and key industry speakers.
Peter Faloon, dmg world media vice president for business media, North America, said he expects the show to host 200 exhibitors in 25,000 square feet, with 2,000 to 4,000 attendees, mostly from within Russia. "It's a small show but very, very focused," said Faloon.
He expects the show to eventually top out at around 30,000 square feet. "We don't see it doubling or tripling in size over the years," Faloon said. "It will go to 70 percent of its maximum size in its first go-round."
Dmg is in discussions with exhibitors from the Canadian IPE and has received verbal commitments for the new show.
CEV, Expomedia's Russian subsidiary, will handle sales, marketing and operational activities in Russia, while dmg world media will handle those same areas in other parts of the world.
