First APEX Day Comes This October
Staff -- Tradeshow Week, 8/16/2004
The Convention Industry Council has declared Oct. 14 APEX Day throughout the United States and Canada to help focus attention on the Accepted Practices Exchange initiative for the convention, meetings and exhibition industry.
"This is a chance to focus efforts toward a single day," explained Juli Finnell Jones, APEX project director with the CIC. "Instead of having four city discussion groups spread over the month, APEX Day gives us a chance to show the power of industry involvement with numbers."
The idea is for individuals, organizations and corporations to participate by discussing the initiative at staff meetings, publishing information about the initiative on company Web sites and participating in local city discussion groups. For example, independent business and marketing coaches Shelley Harris and Ellen Wilson, based in Virginia, will host an educational forum for independent meeting executives and human resources directors in their area to learn how APEX relates to their businesses.
"For industry members to embrace and implement accepted practices, they must be involved in their development and make sure their needs and interests are addressed," Jones stressed. "APEX Day gives everyone, no matter where they live or what sector of the industry they are a part of, the opportunity to be a part of this important initiative.
