More than 21,000 people and 1,000 exhibitors attended VNU Expositions' interbike 2003, which ran Oct. 10–14 at the Sands Expo & Convention Center in Las Vegas. A record 6,000 turned out for Outdoor Demo, interbike's pre-show testing event at nearby Bootleg Canyon. Attendance at last year's 304,500 square foot show, which attracted the same number of exhibitors, was 22,126. Next year's show will be held in Las Vegas Oct. 4–8.
The biennial PACK EXPO, held at the Las Vegas Convention Center Oct. 13–15, reported record-breaking attendance of 18,369, a 17-percent increase over the 15,725 people drawn to the 2001 show. Produced by the Packaging Machinery Manu- facturers Institute, this year's show featured 933 exhibitors spanning 424,879 net square feet, up from 872 exhibitors taking up 390,624 net sq. ft. in 2001. International attendance was up 50 percent and the number of conference registrants nearly doubled, organizers said.
