New England Service Contractors Merge
Staff -- Tradeshow Week, 8/23/2004
Massachusetts-based All American Exposition Services and SER Exposition Services recently merged their staffs and assets to form SER All American.
The combined companies, headquartered in SER's former Worcester, Mass., office, will constitute New England's largest independent and non-union general service contractor, company CEO Bruce Nable said.
He added that the merger will benefit both SER, his 18-year-old company, and All American, because it "will only strengthen our ability to produce exhibitions and meetings of the highest quality on a consistent basis across the country. It's a really good fit."
All American surfaced when Eric Palm, director of national sales, and Jack Amaru, director of field operations, departed Champion Exposition Services five years ago.
Limited customer opportunities in the region set the tone for the companies to merge, Nable said. "There's only so much business out there within our geographical region. We were going after the same business."
By combining forces, SER All American hopes to fill a New England niche in the general contracting marketplace. Although the company offers its services to both regional and national clients, Nable said more than 85 percent of the total business is in New England and several surrounding northeastern states. The terms of the deal were not disclosed.
The company's 35-member staff will cater to smaller companies, Nable noted. "Other larger companies do a lot more business than we do. We're out there on our own every day."
