Financial Show Launch Set for Toronto
Staff -- Tradeshow Week, 9/20/2004
MediaLive Intl. will launch a Canadian financial services show called FS4TORONTO at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre Nov. 8–9.
The event is being presented in conjunction with the Canadian unit of Intl. Data Corp. and Financial Insights, an IDC company that deals with banking and insurance. MediaLive said it picked Toronto as a site for the new show because it is North America's third-largest financial services center, behind New York and Chicago.
Already, sponsors include Computer Associates, Deloitte & Touche, EMC, Financial Models, Microsoft, MTS Allstream, Oracle, PeopleSoft, Rogers and Telus.
FS4TORONTO will be modeled after GTEC WEEK, a MediaLive event for government technology users next scheduled Oct. 18–21 in Ottawa.
A two-day conference will be created with help from an advisory board made up of financial institution managers and service providers. Two days of exhibits are also planned.
MediaLive CEO Bob Priest-Heck said recently that the company expects to launch up to a half-dozen new events this year. Earlier this year, MediaLive announced that it was canceling the 2004 U.S. COMDEX. MediaLive is also no longer producing JavaOne for Sun Microsystems.
