MATSO Names Dwyer New Board Chair
Staff -- Tradeshow Week, 9/20/2004
Major American Trade Show Organizers has chosen board member Pat Dwyer, SmithBucklin senior manager of convention and tradeshow services, to replace Jack Chalden as its chairperson. Chalden resigned his position when he left SUPERCOMM to go to work for industry supplier BD Metrics.
Dwyer said MATSO, formed 20 years ago to help managers of large shows combat their particular challenges, has tried to operate "under the radar" within the tradeshow industry.
"But now, with the many new forces changing the direction of some of these mega-shows, it was decided in the past year that MATSO needed to address the common problems of any show manager," said Dwyer.
Jim Pittas, expositions director for the Packing Machinery Manufacturers Institute, was named to take the board position vacated by Dwyer.
