Online travel bookings

Thirty percent of U.S. adults used the Internet in the past year to get travel information, according to the Travel Industry Assn. Airline tickets were the most frequently purchased item.

Imports and exports

The U.S. Import Price Index rose by 1.7 percent in August, the Bureau of Labor Statistics reported. Higher prices for both petroleum and nonpetroleum imports contributed to the overall increase. In contrast, August export prices fell 0.5 percent.

Producer prices

The Producer Price Index for Finished Goods declined by 0.1 percent in August, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. This decrease followed a 0.1-percent advance in July and a 0.3-percent decline in June.
