Poe Returns to Dallas Convention Center
Staff -- Tradeshow Week, 10/4/2004
After seven years as CEO and executive director of Alabama's Birmingham-Jefferson Convention Complex, Frank Poe is returning to the Dallas Convention Center to again serve as director of convention and event services, a position he held from 1991 to 1997. Poe also served as the center's manager from 1980 to 1991.
He will take his new post in early December, with an annual salary of $137,500, up to $20,000 in incentive pay and a $5,400 car allowance from the Dallas Convention & Visitors Bureau.
While in Birmingham, Poe led efforts to build a $500-million sports and convention dome.
Tradeshow business in Dallas has been down in recent years. There were allegations of fiscal impropriety by former Dallas CVB officials in 2003, and top executives at the DCC have been reshuffled since Poe's 1997 departure.
