New Market Week Hits Home in New York
Staff -- Tradeshow Week, 10/25/2004
Another market week has hit Manhattan. This time, instead of high-fashion runways, it is the latest in gourmet housewares. The House to Home Market Week, which debuted at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center Oct. 8–11, drew 6,400 attendees to its four tradeshows — New York Home Textiles Show, the newly launched New York Gourmet Housewares Show, the personal care and wellness show EX·TRACTS, and art and design show SURTEX Gallery.
George Little Management intended the arrangement to create cross-marketing opportunities and to bring synergy to the event's 630 exhibitors throughout the combined 90,000 net square feet. "There's definitely a strong need in the marketplace for synergistic shows," said Penny Sikalis, GLM vice president and group show manager.
To build on the concept, more categories will be added next year, Sikalis said, possibly including the tabletop market, which is presented at many permanent showrooms in New York. The next House to Home Market Week will take place Oct. 16–19, 2005, with all four shows located on one level at Javits, rather than in two halls on two levels as was the case this year.
