Asian Food Show Heads to California
Staff -- Tradeshow Week, 11/22/2004
Just as it kicked off its inaugural All Asia Food Expo in New York, Diversified Business Communications announced that it will be expanding the brand to the West Coast.
The first All Asia Food Expo drew 3,040 visitors and 84 exhibitors to New York's Jacob K. Javits Convention Center Oct. 26–27. The Los Angeles edition is scheduled to take place Oct. 9–11 at the Los Angeles Convention Center, collocated with Diversified's Expo Comida Latina and the Intl. West Coast Seafood Show.
Organizers said Los Angeles was the next logical location for the show, since California is home to 4.2 million Asian-Americans — more than any other U.S. state (New York is second with 1.2 million).
H. Stephen Phillips, show director for the All Asia Food Expo and Expo Comida Latina, said the fact that hundreds of Asian food companies have U.S. headquarters in Southern California was another key selling point.
All Asia Food Expo is the only Asian food and beverage show currently scheduled to take place in Los Angeles. Show organizer Intl. Trade Information had planned to introduce API — The Pan Asian Food & Beverage Tradeshow at the Natl. Trade Centre in Toronto Oct. 3–5, and at the LACC Feb. 21–23, 2005. However, ITI was forced to indefinitely postpone the shows due to visa complications for international exhibitors.
