Group to Support Canon Packaging Shows
Staff -- Tradeshow Week, 11/22/2004
The Institute of Packaging Professionals has agreed to support Canon Communications' WestPack, SouthPack and EastPack tradeshows. In addition to staffing a booth at each of the shows, IoPP will assist in promoting the shows to its membership. One of IoPP's 43 U.S. chapters, in Minnesota, already sponsors Canon's annual MidPak show in Minneapolis.
Canon Marketing Manager Dan Cutrone said the arrangement is an exchange of support between the IoPP and the shows, not a sponsorship or financial agreement.
"We will assist IoPP in expanding their membership, and they will assist us in promoting our shows to their members. IoPP will have a physical presence on the showfloors, and their logos and information will be on the shows' promotional materials," he said.
Ed Landon, IoPP executive director, said the group supports other packaging shows in similar ways, including PACK EXPO Intl. "We view it as yet another way we can serve the packaging industry in general and our members in particular," he said.
Scheduled for Jan. 10–12, WestPack is the first show in 2005 to be affected by the new arrangement. The show is collocated with Medical Design & Manufacturing (MD&M) West, PLASTEC West Pavilion, Electronics West and Pacific Design & Manufacturing in an event occupying all five of the Anaheim Convention Center's exhibit halls. It will feature a total of nearly 2,000 exhibiting companies.
