Associations

John Christison, general manager of the Washington State Convention & Trade Center, was recently appointed to the Accepted Practices Exchange Commission.

The Center for Exhibition Industry Research has named Paul Dykstra, president and CEO of GES Exposition Services, its 2005 chairman; and David Korse, president of IDG World Expo, its vice chair.

Convention & Visitors Bureaus

The Sydney Convention & Exhibition Centre has appointed Amanda Anker director of marketing and sales.

The New Orleans Metropolitan Convention & Visitors Bureau made two additions to its convention sales team:

  • Peggy Hagaman is manager of the Chicago sales office.
  • Sallee Pavlovich returns as director of corporate sales.

The San Diego Convention & Visitors Bureau promoted Barb Herod to associate vice president of sales of its Washington, D.C., office.

The Convention & Visitors Bureau of Greater Kansas City named Rick Hughes president and CEO. Hughes was most recently COO for the Indianapolis Convention & Visitors Assn.

The Jacksonville & the Beaches Convention & Visitors Bureau hired Theda (T.J.) Jackson as convention sales manager.

The Chicago Convention & Tourism Bureau hired Sheri Mead as sales manager.

Exhibit Services

Mary Ellen Chapdelaine joined Edlen Electrical Exhibition Services as director of national sales.

MC2 named Bob Koors senior vice president of events.

Facility Management

The San Diego Convention Center has promoted Phyllis Bradley Azama to vice president of sales for the Eastern region.

Reba Pittman Walker, former president of the Hotel Assn. of Washington, D.C., has been hired as the Washington Convention Center Authority's de-puty general manager.

General Service Contractors

B. Scott Kellogg, formerly of Exhibit Dynamics, has become senior designer in Freeman's Dallas office.

The Expo Group named Mike McDaniel as general manager and Tom Mills as warehouse manager of its Las Vegas operations.

GES Exposition Services hired Neil Mullanaphy, former director of sales for the Mandalay Bay Convention Center, as vice president of sales for the Las Vegas region. Sandi Moster, formerly of McKinsey & Co., has become GES' director of strategy and business development.

Show management

Imogene Altznauer, formerly with ImpyCo Intl. Event Management, is now operations manager at Diversified Business Communications.

VNU Expositions has made the following changes:

  • Howard Friedman, a former Reed Exhibitions vice president, has joined the ASD/AMD Merchandise Group as group show director of the discount and value priced merchandise market.
  • Andy Tompkins has been promoted to show director of Outdoor Retailer summer and winter markets and Fly-Fishing Retailer World Trade Expo.

Dmg world media made the following appointments:

  • Ross Horton, vice president, Western region
  • Dwayne McKillop, vice president, sales
  • Duncan Payne, vice president, Eastern region
