Changes for Tarsus Label Shows
By Gary Tufel -- Tradeshow Week, 1/24/2005
Tarsus Group's Labelexpo Singapore will move to India in 2006 and become Label Summit Asia.
Tarsus hopes the move from Singapore to India will help it reach new customers in the Asia Pacific region. Roger Pellow, Labelexpo managing director, said the show was revamped in response to industry needs and demands.
The biennial Labelexpo Singapore, supported by regional trade associations, was launched in 1991. The final Singapore label event, held Nov. 23–25, attracted 3,796 visitors and 100 exhibitors to a 3,000 net square meter (32,291 net square foot) showfloor.
Label Summit Asia, set for Oct. 10–11 at Bangkok's Intercontinental Hotel, will target suppliers and printers from throughout Asia. The event will offer information about regional and international labeling standards, global branding issues, advances in label materials, pre-press and production technology and the latest requirements for logistics and distribution labeling.
With Southeast Asia's growing population and Western companies moving to the region, Tarsus saw a need for improvement in the quality and variety of labels. Globalization has brought international standards, and companies require higher-quality products to meet those standards, according to Tarsus.
Label Summit Asia will tackle these issues with support from a tabletop exhibition. About 400 delegates are expected to attend the conference to hear about developments in flexo technologies, digital printing, letterpress and gravure. Tarsus' next Asian show will be Labelexpo China, set for Dec. 7–9.
IDTechEx and Tarsus, meanwhile, will jointly produce Smart Labels USA. The June 27–30 event in Baltimore will focus on item-level tagging, smart applications and radio-frequency identification labels.
