UFI Establishes Code of Ethics
Staff -- Tradeshow Week, 3/7/2005
UFI, the Global Assn. of the Exhibition Industry, has issued a nine-point code of ethics that calls for, among other things, accurate information about exhibition activities and a pledge to write clear, fair contracts.
The code applies to all UFI member trade fairs, which are requested to display it prominently and abide by it. However, UFI also expects the code to have a trickle-down effect.
UFI President Ruud van Ingen said members have a professional obligation to provide exhibitors and attendees with activities, venues and services in line with accepted standards, laws and regulations.
UFI staff members, in consultation with the UFI Executive Committee, prepared the basic document, and the entire membership approved the code at the UFI Congress in Bangkok last November. All new UFI members will be required to agree to adhere to this code as part of the association's membership requirements.
