IDG World Expo saw an 11-percent jump in attendance at the largest of its Macworld Conference & Expo events in San Francisco. The Jan. 10–14 show saw 35,989 total visitors, compared to 32,409 in 2004, according to an audit by Exhibit Surveys. The audit also indicated that attendees spent 31 percent more time on the showfloor in 2005. The number of exhibitors, however, was down from 2,508 in 2004 to 2,485 this year.
The World Shoe Assn. Show reported a 30-percent increase in total, unaudited attendance Feb. 6–8. The semiannual event reportedly attracted 33,286 participants, compared with 23,267 in February 2004. WSA COO Diane Stone credited an aggressive, worldwide marketing campaign for the growth, adding that the 7,126 buyers at the show represented a 100-percent increase over the average number at the last four editions.
