MediaLive Cancels '05 Edition of COMDEX
Staff -- Tradeshow Week, 4/11/2005
Once again, the message on COMDEX from MediaLive Intl. is, "Wait until next year."
For the second year in a row, the company has announced the show will not take place in Las Vegas this winter.
Declining all requests for interviews, MediaLive released only a written statement about cancelling the information technology show. However, the press release seems to indicate that the company hopes to someday resurrect its one-time landmark tradeshow.
"We continue to believe that the $1 trillion IT industry needs an annual event," the release stated.
In June 2004, when MediaLive canceled last year's COMDEX, Vice President and General Manager Eric Faurot told Tradeshow Week it was because exhibitors were waiting too late to make space commitments.
As for a reason for canceling this year's show, MediaLive's statement only said, "Considerable work remains to build an industry event to serve the industry as it matures with the same success that COMDEX did in its infancy."
