Staff -- Tradeshow Week, 4/25/2005

With its move this year to the recently opened Boston Convention & Exhibition Center, George Little Management's unaudited Boston Gift Show attracted 7,343 buyers April 2–5, for flat growth compared with last year's 7,313 buyers. They visited 657 exhibiting companies spanning 120,980 net square feet, a 2-percent larger exhibition than in 2004. Organizers said they were very happy with the new facility.

In its second year, Yarn Expo reportedly drew 12 percent more buyers, with 8,437 this March 29–31 compared to 7,525 last year. The unaudited Messe Frankfurt Hong Kong show, which takes place at the Natl. Agricultural Exhibition Centre in Beijing, China, saw slightly fewer exhibitors this year, with 121 companies compared with 128 in 2004. Organizers reported that a large majority (85 percent) of the buyers were from China.
