According to unaudited figures, attendance at Advanstar Communications' MAGIC Marketplace increased by 5 percent, from 90,000 last winter to 95,000 (including exhibit personnel) this past Feb. 14–17. Advanstar also claimed an increase in net square feet of paid exhibit space — from 864,827 to 897,344 — at the semiannual show, which was under one roof at the Las Vegas Convention Center for the second time.
The Hearth, Patio & Barbecue Assn. announced record-breaking attendance figures at its 25th HPBExpo Feb. 23–26 at the Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta. The unaudited show reportedly drew 12,130 attendees (including exhibitors), a 15-percent increase over the 10,558 visitors at the 2004 show in Anaheim. For this year's show, the GWCC built a 70,000 sq. ft. outdoor space that supported 20 million BTUs of natural gas per hour and 2 million watts of electricity.
