Although attendance at the Offshore Technology Conference was flat, percentage-wise, the Society of Petroleum Engineers drew 51,320 offshore oil and gas professionals to the Reliant Center at Reliant Park in Houston May 2–5. The unaudited number beat 2004 attendance by 399 and set a 20-year record for the show. Attendees reportedly came from 110 countries to visit the 410,000 net square foot exhibition's 2,087 exhibitors.
DDW Administration saw an 8-percent jump in attendance at its Digestive Disease Week at Chicago's McCormick Place May 14–19. The show, co-sponsored by four societies, drew 16,242 internal medicine professionals, compared with 15,013 at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center in New Orleans last year. The exhibition was also up, from 289 exhibiting firms filling 129,000 net square feet in 2004, to 325 exhibitors filling 135,000 net sq. ft. in 2005.
