VNU Expositions exceeded its attendance goal by 50 people for the inaugural HD Asia, drawing 1,050 hospitality design professionals (not including exhibitors) to the June 22–23 show at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre. Although the 6,222 net square feet exhibition was smaller than projected, organizers said they plan to go ahead with a 2006 show, and expect twice as many participants.
Adding new product categories and collocating with another of its shows allowed George Little Management to grow the New York Intl. Gift Fair, Aug. 13–18 at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center and the Show Piers on the Hudson at the New York City Passenger Ship Terminal. The exhibition, spanning 617,069 net sq. ft., attracted 43,000 retailers, an 8-percent improvement over last year's 40,000. Collocation with GLM's EX•TRACTS contributed to the gift fair's growth, organizers said.
