Staff -- Tradeshow Week, 10/24/2005
John Q. Hammons Hotels & Resorts last month announced plans to develop an 80,000 square foot convention center and three hotels in La Vista, Neb.
The 260-suite Embassy Suites Hotel, 220-room Courtyard by Marriott and 120-room Residence Inn by Marriott will connect to the new convention center, a joint venture between the Springfield, Mo.-based firm and the city of La Vista.
La Vista Mayor Harold "Andy" Anderson said he is confident the project will be a vital addition to the community. "As the fastest growing city in the state of Nebraska, La Vista has a tremendous need for full-service, upscale lodging and a first-rate convention center."
Construction will begin in March, with a scheduled opening in fall 2007.
La Vista is 10 miles from Omaha, which offers the Qwest Center Omaha, with 194,000 sq. ft. of exhibit space.
