The Society of Petroleum Engineers increased its attendance by 399 individuals, or 0.7 percent, at the May 2–5 Offshore Technology Conference. The attendance total of 51,320 (including exhibitors) at Houston's Reliant Center was a record for the TSW 200 show, which is not audited. Although the number of exhibiting companies decreased slightly, the 410,000 net square foot showfloor was 12,250 net sq. ft. larger than last year.

VNU Expositions' Hospitality Design Conference & Expo continued its growth streak, drawing 8,864 buyers to the Sands Expo & Convention Center in Las Vegas May 5–7 — 14 percent more than the 7,782 that turned out last year — according to preliminary figures. The showfloor also reportedly grew, from 940 exhibitors spanning 233,190 net sq. ft. in 2004 to 979 filling 262,000 net sq. ft. this year. HD Expo attendance is not audited.
