Expo Group Accepting Show Manager of the Year Award Entries
Staff -- Tradeshow Week, 7/18/2005
Nominations are being accepted through Sept. 15 for The Expo Group's sixth annual Show Manager of the Year Awards. SMOTY Awards are given to individuals for innovative practices, customer service, commitment to success and the ability to overcome obstacles. In the last five years, TEG has honored 24 show managers for dedication and ingenuity.
Ray Pekowski, the company's president and CEO, said the award is an effort to "recognize unsung heroes who toil endlessly making their shows successes."
Pekowski added that the credibility of the awards program has risen in the last six years as the industry realized the awards honored show managers who might not otherwise be recognized.
"The SMOTY award is all about the person, not their show," he said. "We want to recognize individuals who work tirelessly on behalf of their attendees and exhibitors to create a viable marketplace."
SMOTY trophies are awarded in five categories based on the size of the show, and TEG donates $1,000 to a charity or educational institution of each winner's choice.
Nominations may be made by colleagues, clients and even the individuals themselves, at http://www.theexpogroup.com/smoty. Winners will be announced Oct. 17; awards will be presented Nov. 30 at the Four Seasons Hotel in Atlanta.
