Questex Media's first tradeshow since splitting from Advanstar Communications, AIIM ON DEMAND, May 17–19 at the Pennsylvania Convention Center in Philadelphia, puts preliminary attendance estimates at 21,000 to 22,000 (excluding exhibitors), making the lower end down 5 percent from last year's 22,092. The show, which will be audited, saw a sharp decrease in exhibitors, from 448 in 2004 to 350 this year.

Members of the American Institute of Architects braved 100-plus-degree temperatures to turn out in record numbers at the unaudited AIA 2005 Natl. Convention & Exposition May 18–21 at Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino in Las Vegas. The show, managed by M|C Communications, drew 24,444 attendees (including exhibitors), compared with 22,222 in 2004, for an increase of 10 percent. The number of exhibitors was down from 877 to 860 this year.
