The combined attendance at all three 2005 Hospitality Sales & Marketing Assn. Intl.'s Affordable Meetings was up less than 1 percent compared with 2004. HSMAI drew 3,514 meeting planners to its U.S. trade-shows in the East, Midwest and West Coast, up from 3,419 meeting planners last year. The association said strong educational sessions were responsible for sustained interest in the events, which featured 1,045 exhibitors.
E.J. Krause & Associates, Reed Exhibitions and Argentine association CICOMRA reported that EXPO COMM ARGENTINA saw a 22-percent increase in attendance Sept. 20–23 at the Buenos Aires fairgrounds. The communications and IT meeting drew 24,381 attendees, compared with 20,000 in 2004. Organizers said the exhibition also grew by more than 20 percent, in both square footage and number of exhibiting companies. They credited support by high-profile industry executives for the growth.
