MIMList Migrates to MiForum to Handle Increased Volume of Postings
Staff -- Tradeshow Week, 1/9/2006
The meetings industry listserv MIMList in December became MiForum when it migrated to the newly-launched MiMegasite.
Washington, D.C.-based Joan Eisenstodt, chief strategist for Eisenstodt Associates, continues to head the online MiForum community.
Eisenstodt said she appreciates the new communication method. "Reasons (for the migration) had to do with trying to make the forum more robust than the list had been, the ability to follow a thread, to do polling, to archive," she said. "VNU is working to make it as community-like and user-friendly as possible and continues to tweak it based on feedback."
MiForum member Camille Paluscio, leader of meetings and events for Volkswagen of America, said in a recent post, "Now it's starting to feel like home."
Eisenstodt started MIMList in 1999 when Cardinal Communications recruited her to operate its industry bulletin board (once called Meetings Industry Mall), which eventually evolved into the listserv.
MiForum has 1,275 members, many fewer than the 4,000 MIMList members, Eisenstodt noted.
However, she said, "We are glad that the numbers are a bit smaller for now, as we work out the system and make changes."
