New Name for Renovated San Mateo Center

The San Mateo (Calif.) County Expo Center was renamed the San Mateo County Event Center this month to signify completion of the venue's $3 million renovation.
"We believe that changing the name better portrays the type of facility that we are — multipurpose," said sales manager Erin Daughenbaugh, adding that the new logo, new name and renovation are intended to attract more types of business.
The center in December welcomed some new event business, opening its doors to Yahoo!'s 6,000-person holiday party. Circuses and ice skating events are also being considered, and there are hopes for a hotel and parking structure.
The renovation includes retractable walls, a telescopic riser seating system, teleconferencing capabilities, restroom and landscape improvements, and redesigned signage. The facility offers 215,000 square feet of exhibit space.
