New U.K. Organization Founded to Promote Face-to-Face Marketing
Staff -- Tradeshow Week, 2/6/2006
The U.K. exhibition and event industry has a new marketing champion, the Events Industry Alliance.
Trevor Foley, group chief executive of the alliance, said the aim is to make business leaders and media planners aware that the industry can provide growth through face-to-face marketing, and to increase government awareness of the industry's value.
The alliance is a partnership of the assn. of exhibition organisers (of which Foley is also the CEO), the assn. of event venues and the assn. of exhibition contractors. Aeo will focus its efforts on industry promotion, Aev on improving research programs and Aec on compliance and common standards.
Foley said he has talked to Intl. Assn. for Exhibition Management President Steven Hacker about the new organization.
"We are doing a number of things in tandem, including developing ROI models and looking at name changes," Foley said. "We will meet soon, along with IAEM Chairman Sandy Angus, to explore how we can address exhibition promotion together."
