Staff -- Tradeshow Week, 4/3/2006
Expomedia Events and European publisher Gruner + Jahr are buying a German auto show and plan to clone it for other regions.
The 8-year-old Interauto, bought from the Turret Group, usually draws 155 exhibitors and 1,750 visitors. It is set for Koelnmesse Nov. 14–16.
Expomedia Events and G+J formed a joint venture a year ago. Under the name of G+J Expomedia Events, the companies have already launched two shows at the 6,688 square meter (71,989 square foot) EXPO XXI Cologne Intl. Expocentre, which opened in May.
One of the two new shows, NanoSolutions, drew 2,000 attendees and 80 exhibitors during its inaugural run at the Expocentre last November. It is set this year for Nov. 28–30.
World of Mobility also took place there last Oct. 19–21, drawing 80 exhibitors spanning a 3,000 net sq. m. (32,292 net sq. ft.) showfloor. The Food and Living exhibition will launch at the Expocentre this November.
G+J business publications such as Capital, Impulse, Borse Online and Financial Times Deutschland supported the exhibitions.
Expomedia Events also has a partnership with Dutch newspaper publisher De Telegraaf Groep under the banner of TE2 Telegraaf Expomedia Events. De Telegraaf Groep is helping Expomedia develop its 2,700 sq. m. (29,063 sq. ft.) event venue in Amsterdam, Netherlands.
