Paris' Texworld Is Headed to New York

Messe Frankfurt is duplicating its Paris-based Texworld apparel and fabric show in the United States.
Texworld USA will debut at New York's Penn Plaza Pavilion July 11–13 in cooperation with Lenzing Fibers' Innovation Asia, which, with about 25 exhibitors of its own, will be a section of Texworld USA.
Messe Frankfurt hopes to provide an American outlet to the suppliers and buyers of all ranges of apparel fabrics and accessories.
David Audrain, president of Messe Frankfurt USA, said the Parisian show has grown steadily for years and "a survey of that show's exhibitors found that the U.S. market was the No. 1 market they wanted another Texworld in."
Because of Penn Plaza's limited space, there is likely to be a maximum of 100 exhibiting companies occupying about 14,000 net square feet, Audrain said. The company plans to expand to a semiannual schedule beginning in 2007. About 50 companies are already committed and a sellout is expected, he added.
The 2005 Paris show, at the Paris Expo — Espace Grande Arche, covered 26,800 square meters (288,500 square feet) with 620 exhibitors and 16,820 attendees. The 2006 edition took place Feb. 20–23.
