Assembly Managers to Hold First European Meeting
Staff -- Tradeshow Week, 4/17/2006
About 50 attendees are expected at the Intl. Assn. of Assembly Managers' first meeting in Europe.
Open to members and non-members alike, the inaugural IAAM Europe meeting will be held April 19-21 in Vienna, Austria.
Greg Davis, director of the Cajundome/Convention Center in Lafayette, La., is scheduled to talk about shelter planning for emergency use. The Cajundome housed hurricane evacuees for 58 days after Hurricane Katrina.
A panel will discuss topics of interest to European venues, such as developing a venue management school. IAAM members will elect a board vice president to represent European facility managers.
IAAM President David Ross said the meeting aims to continue building interest in the initiatives of IAAM Europe, a 2-year-old district credited with helping boost IAAM's European membership.
"We want to chart a direction for facility management that includes and showcases the talent and expertise that currently exist in Europe," said Ross, director of the Show Me Center at Southeast Missouri State University.
"The Vienna meeting will help us convey that IAAM Europe is a great place for venue managers to come for the sharing of ideas, and the most relevant professional development and education geared toward European venues," Ross said.
