Rachelle Crum -- Tradeshow Week, 4/24/2006

The Hearth, Patio & Barbecue EXPO, held March 9–11 at the Salt Palace Convention Center in Salt Lake City, attracted 6,819 buyers, down 5.1 percent from 7,188 buyers in Atlanta in 2005. The annual show spanned 211,500 sq. ft. with 435 exhibiting companies, both down from 2005. Nevertheless, it marked the event's biggest western U.S. showing in 26 years, according to its producer, the Hearth, Patio & Barbecue Assn.

The World Tea Expo, March 27–29 at the Las Vegas Hilton, attracted a record attendance of 4,122, up 59 percent from 2,600 in 2005 (when it was known as the Take Me 2 Tea Expo). The fourth annual show spanned 22,800 sq. ft. with 201 exhibiting companies, up from 18,700 sq. ft. and 157 companies in 2005. New to the show and the United States was a tea auction. The show will rotate to Atlanta in June 2007.
