New VNU Sourcing Show to Precede ASD/AMD Summer
By Staff -- Tradeshow Week, 5/1/2006
In an effort to make life easier for its ASD/AMD show exhibitors, VNU has changed the launch dates of its new sourcing show.
ASD/AMD's SourceDirect will now take place Aug. 10-12 (instead of June 4-6) at the Las Vegas Convention Center. It will precede by one day the Aug. 13-17 ASD/AMD Trade Show – Las Vegas in conjunction with ASD/AMD's Las Vegas Gift Expo and the ASD/AMD Jewelry Show at the Mirage (No. 15 on the Tradeshow Week 200), which will take place at the LVCC, Mirage Casino-Hotel and Sands Expo & Convention Center/Venetian Resort Hotel Casino.
The revised dates should make it easier for SourceDirect exhibitors (primarily Asian manufacturers of low-cost consumer goods) to connect with their target audience, volume wholesalers and importers who are mostly exhibitors from the later show, said Julie Ichiba, group show director for the ASD/AMD Trade Shows.
SourceDirect will give U.S.-based companies a chance to source products directly from Asia, without the expense of overseas travel or significant time away from their businesses.
"It's one less trip to China," Ichiba said. "We are trying to give them an opportunity to source direct here in the United States."
SourceDirect is expected to feature nearly 300 exhibitors and attract a couple thousand buyers, Ichiba said. It will be the first joint tradeshow production between the Santa Monica, Calif.-based ASD/ AMD Trade Shows division and the Shanghai, China-based VNU Exhibitions Asia.
In addition to its flagship Las Vegas shows in March and August, ASD/AMD Trade Shows produces variety and general merchandise shows in New York, Los Angeles, Atlanta and Atlantic City, N.J.
