Messe Duesseldorf Moves Wire and Tube Shows

Staff -- Tradeshow Week, 5/15/2006

Messe Duesseldorf is expanding its franchise in the worldwide construction materials market with new shows planned in Thailand, the Middle East and Latin America.

With wire, cable, tube and pipe events already in China, Russia, India, Singapore and, of course, Germany, Messe Duesseldorf has decided to move what had been wire Singapore and Tube Singapore to Bangkok, Thailand, Oct. 16–18, 2007. The shows will be renamed wire Southeast ASIA and Tube Southeast ASIA.

Beatrice Ho, project manager for Messe Duesseldorf Asia, said locating both shows in Bangkok presented regional opportunities for exhibitors in Indochina. Thailand and Vietnam have sought foreign investment with tax incentives, and Bangkok is a popular destination less than a five-hour flight from India, Japan and Indonesia.

"It is timely for Messe Duesseldorf Asia to build on the success of the Singapore-based shows, to organize a regional platform closer to this activity and visitor base," Ho said.

She said the new shows should attract some 300 international exhibitors and 3,000 regional attendees.

With Dubai, United Arab Emirates-based Al Fajer Information & Services, Messe Duesseldorf also will co-organize Tekno/Tube Arabia 2007, The 8th Intl. Trade Fair for Industrial Machinery, Metalworking, Machine Tools and Tube and Pipes. Scheduled Jan. 13–16 in Dubai, the events are designed for manufacturing companies that want to tap into markets in Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates. They will coincide with Arabplast 2007.

In Latin America, Messe Duesseldorf and Grupo Cipa will co-organize Tubotech 2007, Intl. Tube, Fittings, Pipes, Valves and Components Trade Fair, Oct. 2–4, 2007, in Sao Paulo, Brazil. Although this will be the fourth year Grupo Cipa has staged the show, Messe Duesseldorf is getting involved in order to increase participation from Europe, North America and Asia. In the past, Tubotech primarily has been a domestic event.

Werner Dornscheidt, president and CEO of Messe Duesseldorf, said the show gives his firm an opportunity to share its extensive expertise in the organization of high-tech trade fairs in Latin America, and to help international companies from the tube and pipe industry gain access to the South American market.
