Messe Muenchen to Co-produce Iranian Water Expo
Staff -- Tradeshow Week, 6/19/2006
The biennial IWE — Intl. Water & Waste Water Exhibition 2006 will have a German partner for the first time. Messe Muenchen's IMAG Intl. Exhibition and Fair Service will join Iran Power & Water Equipment & Services Export (SUNI) in co-producing this year's Nov. 22–25 show at the Tehran Exhibition Centre.
The 2004 IWE attracted 80,000 attendees and 326 exhibitors to a showfloor spanning 12,000 square meters (130,000 square feet), said Anke Gruening, project manager at Messe Muenchen.
SUNI enlisted IMAG to help draw companies from Europe, Asia and Canada that are interested in entering the growing Iranian water and wastewater treatment market. In 2004, only 56 exhibitors were from outside Iran.
According to Gruening, Iran's growing population of more than 70 million has caused increased air, water and soil pollution. The situation is compounded by waste disposal difficulties and a water shortage.
German companies are already established in the Iranian market, where a long-term government plan aims to improve water supplies and wastewater treatment facilities by 2021.
IWE also receives support from the German Ministry of Federal States.
