Global Gaming Expo (G2E), a joint venture of the American Gaming Assn. and Reed Exhibitions, has acquired the Asian Gaming Expo from the Australasian Gaming Machine Manufacturers Assn. for an undisclosed sum.
Starting in 2007, the show will be renamed G2E Asia. Scheduled this June and next at the Macau Tower, it will move in 2008 to the (by then) newly opened Venetian Macau, operated by the Las Vegas Sands. The show is booked there through 2009.
The AGMMA will continue to participate in the show as a sponsor and advisor, said Courtney Muller, Reed Exhibitions group vice president. Muller will act as global brand manager for G2E, and Reed's Raymond Tam will be the Hong Kong-based show director.
"Both our U.S. and Asian offices will be working on the event in partnership with the American Gaming Assn.," Muller said.
She reported that the last two Asian Gaming Expos have filled approximately 20,000 net square feet with 40 exhibiting firms and drawn 2,700 total attendees (including exhibitors).
The domestic Global Gaming Expo (G2E) came in at No. 78 on this year's Tradeshow Week 200, with 720 exhibiting firms spanning 278,515 net sq. ft. and attracting 16,767 professional attendees.
It is next scheduled Nov. 14–16 at the Las Vegas Convention Center, following, for the first time, the new G2E Training & Development Institute conference Nov. 13.
