Reed Buys London Security Shows
By Rachelle Crum -- Tradeshow Week, 7/3/2006
Reed Exhibitions last month acquired a series of security events from London-based Intl. Business Events for an undisclosed sum.
The four collocated shows, Airport, Port & Transport Security Europe, Event & Venue Security, Infrastructure Security and Counter Terror World, will next take place Dec. 5–6 at London's Earls Court & Olympia.
Reed Exhibitions U.K. CEO Alastair Gornall said the acquisition reflects the company's "growing interest in the security sector globally."
David Wood, managing director of the London-based IBE, said, "We are very pleased with the way in which this portfolio has established itself in the growing security market but it now makes sense for a larger organization to develop the events' potential more fully." To ensure a smooth transition, IBE will manage this year's events for Reed.
The shows are expected to complement Reed's security show portfolio, which includes Intl. Security Expo East, scheduled for Oct. 24–25 in New York; ISC West with Urban Security, which took place April 5–7 in Las Vegas; ISC Brasil in Sao Paulo, Brazil; Alarmes Protection Securite and Expoprotection/FEU in Paris; and Sicherheit in Zurich, Switzerland.
Gornall added, "I am delighted that we will be able to utilize our industry position and international reach to enhance further these exciting events."
IBE will continue to operate APTS Middle East, next scheduled April 23–24, 2007, in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. The company also runs the collocated architecture and design shows Futurebuild, Ecobuild, Regenex and Cityscape, which are next scheduled Feb. 27–March 1, 2007, at Earls Court.
