Deutsche Messe reported the debut of its annual Domotex Middle East Intl. Trade Fair for Carpets and Floor Coverings May 28–30 at the Dubai World Trade Centre in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, attracted 5,200 attendees. The event featured 241 exhibitors from 36 countries. Organizers said the total size of the exhibition was 14,000 square meters (150,700 square feet). The largest foreign contingent at the event was Turkey with 23 companies.

The second annual ASI Show Philadelphia, May 23–25 at the Pennsylvania Convention Center, attracted 1,973 attendees, a 14.6-percent increase over its 2005 attendance of 1,722. The show featured 460 exhibitors, up from 254 a year earlier. The show was aimed at distributors and attendees primarily from the Northeastern United States. The Advertising Specialty Institute also organizes shows in Chicago, Dallas, Las Vegas and Orlando.
