Tarsus, Shanghai World Expo Sign Partnership Agreement
Staff -- Tradeshow Week, 7/17/2006
Tarsus Group and Shanghai Modern, a subsidiary of Shanghai World Expo Group (organizer of the 2010 World Expo in Shanghai), have formed a partnership to operate trade exhibitions and conferences in China in 2007.
The partnership is an extension of Tarsus' Chinese expansion. Tarsus focuses on the label and packaging sector through its Labelexpo series of events. Shanghai Modern has packaging, printing and paper industry experience, as well as knowledge of the local market.
The two will cooperate on several events in July 2007 at the Shanghai New Intl. Expo Center: the 15th Print Pack & Paper Shanghai, 7th PaperTech Shanghai, 3rd Corrugating & Converting Expo and the 14th Shanghai Intl. Advertising Technology & Equipment Exhibition. Together, they will also launch packaging and printing events, co-marketing and co-hosting under their joint portfolio, with Tarsus handling international sales.
Tarsus Group Managing Director Douglas Emslie said Tarsus has a long-term commitment to expand in China, having run trade conferences and shows in the country since 2003. Tarsus opened a Shanghai office in 2005 and has launched a Chinese version of the label industry monthly magazine, Labels & Labeling.
Emslie said Tarsus' portfolio in China has expanded recently with label summits and shows in Guangzhou and Shanghai, as well as a travel trade event, BITTM (the Beijing Intl. Travel and Tourism Market). This November, Tarsus will present Label Summit South China 2006. Labelexpo Asia 2007 will take place next November in Shanghai.
Although there already are many local shows in the packaging and printing sectors in China, Emslie said "our product offering is quite unique. We bring international and European exhibitors to Chinese buyers, helping organizations to do international business and set up new partnerships."
Tarsus' Shanghai competitors include ProPak China, Packtech & Foodtech China, Shanghai Label & Trademark Printing & Materials Exhibition and Print, Pack & Paper China.
