Koelnmesse Pacovent Show a No Go
Staff -- Tradeshow Week, 8/7/2006
The Pacovent Intl. Trade Fair for Machinery, Materials and Technology for Packaging Production and Converting, which was to debut Nov. 6–10, in Cologne, Germany, has been canceled because of weak response from potential participants in other countries. The Koelnmesse show was to have been a highly specialized trade fair aimed at the manufacturing and processing of product packaging.
Julia Schmidt, press officer for Unternehmenskommunikation/PR, Koelnmesse's public relations firm, said, "Our overall strategy was to create an international product offering of packaging production and converting applicable to various industries."
However, it didn't quite work out that way.
"Even though we received good response in certain areas," Schmidt said, "we were unable to reach our goal of a global representation."
There are no plans at the moment to revive the canceled show.
Attendees were to have included suppliers of equipment and technology for the manufacturing and processing of packaging materials, and decision makers from the manufacturing industry for packaging materials and packaging. Exhibitors would have been makers of machinery and equipment for manufacturing and processing packaging materials, rollers and tools, supervision and control equipment for production processes, quality control, equipment for storage and transport, package design, graphic art and construction, environmental technology, waste disposal and recycling.
More than 43,000 companies from 120 countries annually exhibit at tradeshows at Koelnmesse, typically attracting 2.2 million buyers. More than half of the exhibitors and a third of the buyers usually come from abroad.
