The Austin Game Conference, held Sept. 6–8 at the Austin (Texas) Convention Center, attracted more than 2,400 game industry professionals from 20 countries, compared with about 2,000 in 2005, reported organizer Game Initiative. The company added an extra day of sessions and more than 12,000 sq. ft. of exhibit space to the Technology Pavilion, where more than 80 companies exhibited.

Reed Exhibitions reported a 6-percent increase in buyers at the Aug. 26–28 Western Foodservice & Hospitality Expo, held at the Los Angeles Convention Center. Unaudited figures showed that 10,464 buyers turned out this year, compared with 9,852 in 2005. The collocated Los Angeles Food & Wine Festival was launched as part of the event.
