ASAE Helps Jordanian Associations
Staff -- Tradeshow Week, 10/2/2006
The American Society of Assn. Executives & the Center has partnered with the King Abdullah II Center for Excellence in Amman, Jordan, to establish "Mark of Best Practice" standards and awards for Jordanian associations.
The alliance follows recent reform initiatives allowing the Jordanian private sector more growth and independence. The pact also aims to promote Jordanian associations' financial growth and economic competitiveness.
ASAE & the Center and the King Abdullah Center created criteria for the awards with help from a U.S. Agency for Intl. Development grant. The King Abdullah Center is responsible for all aspects of the awards program. ASAE & the Center will provide technical advice, access to its resources and a year of complimentary membership for the chief staff executive of the Mark of Best Practice award-winning association.
The first winners of the awards were:
- Young Entrepreneur Assn.
- Jordan Exporters and Producers of Fruits and Vegetables
- Information Technology Assn. of Jordan
- Jordanian Forum for Business and Professional Women
A group of Jordanian association executives has taken steps to form a society of association executives in the country. ASAE & the Center is helping them identify successful models and plans to continue supporting the group's work as it grows.
Greg Melia, ASAE & the Center senior director of credentialing and allied society relations, said associations are an important and growing part of the Jordanian economy.
